The Colorado and Moscow Ballets - Dueling Nutcrackers

by Shawn Marie on December 18th, 2007

The Colorado Ballet has been shaking it up this season with daring ballets and a kicky hip campaign. However, tradition is tradition and The Nutcracker lives on. In the Colorado Ballet’s own words, “We think sugar, spice, and adrenaline are nice. Give your holidays a little shot in the sugarplum.” There are still many performances this week and through December 24th at The Ellie Caulkins Opera House or known locally as ‘The Ellie’. If you have been downtown near The Denver Center Performance Complex you will know you’re close by all the cars trying to get into the parking structure in time for the show. Speer and Arapahoe are the cross streets for the DCPA in case you want to get your Nutcracker groove on.

Nutcracker, Moscow

If you want a different view of The Nutcracker, The Moscow Ballet is offering their rendition December 26th and 27th at The Paramount Theatre located at 1621 Glenarm Street in Downtown Denver. Park conveniently and hop the 16th Street Shuttle. Make a great night of it right in the middle of the holidays! The Paramount Café or Marlowes are located on the corner of 16th Street and Glenarm- not to mention plenty other eateries on and around the 16th Street Mall. Wander through the city before or after the show to take in the lights at a slower pace.
