If you haven’t heard already, today is 93.3’s Big Gig music festival out at Fiddler’s Green. What’s the Big Gig you might ask? Well, if you’ve ever been to Lollapalooza, the Warped Tour, or Ozzfest, you have a general idea of what to expect. An outdoor, all day concert featuring both big name groups and a bunch of super talented locals from right here in Colorado. On the ticket to perform is The Offspring, Paramore, the Dropkick Murphys, the Spill Canvas, Dropping Daylight, Skyfox, and Denver’s own The Flobots. Appearing on the Local’s Only stage are Life In Electric, The Heyday, Rough Draft, For Love of Ivy, and Saving Verona. The Local’s Only Stage performers were chosen by 93.3 listeners. The Flobots were the Big Mystery Band for the gig and were revealed just days ago on the morning show at 93.3 with Goodman. To say people were excited would be a serious understatement, as the Flobots have exploded onto the scene in the last few months since the nationwide release of Fight with Tools.

Fiddler’s Green is located at 6350 Greenwood Plaza Blvd in Englewood, CO. Tickets for the event are $35 for reserved seating, $15 for general admission and can be purchased online. Doors open at 1 pm, the show starts at 3:30pm.

If you have always watched MTV and wondered, “Hey, how can *I* get into a music video?” – we have the answer. That is, if you love the Flobots as much as we do!

We told you about the fantastic local band the Flobots just last week, and today, they are shooting the video for their new single “Rise”. They are looking for locals of all ages, shapes, sizes and kinds for the video. Today at high noon they will be at the Gothic Theater, located at 3263 South Broadway in Englewood, CO.

What do you have to do to be included in the music video?

Show up!

No, really. All you have to do is show up and make sure you are wearing plain clothes – this means NO corporate logos of ANY kind (IE: Nike, Adidas, Other Bands, Products) or any obscene/objectionable language/pictures. Flobots t-shirts are okay, of course, as are local schools or non-profit groups (IE: PeaceJam, Dumb Friends League). Be prepared to stand around for long periods of time, bring some water/snacks with you, sunscreen, and your sense of community! The Flobots want to show their community, and they want YOU to be a part of it!!

You would be hard pressed to find someone here in Denver who hasn’t heard of the Flobots. An extremely talented locally bred band of seven musicians (including a viola player and a trumpet player!), the Flobots’ break out hit “Handlebars” has been heard all over the country and just keeps gaining momentum. They’ve appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and the Carson Daly Show, as well as receiving awesome rotation in a number of radio stations.

If you haven’t heard of them yet, you should do whatever it takes to get your hands on a copy of “Fight With Tools”, their latest release. The lyrics are catchy and carry a strong message of Peace and Change, and the music is nothing short of genius. I am a huge music head and when I heard “Handlebars” for the first time I got goosebumps. It’s hard to describe the feeling that really great music gives you, but you know it when you feel it.

Formed in 2005, they have been bringing their positive message and amazing crowds ever since. One shouldn’t try to put them in any particular category, as their unique instrumentation and double emcee front men allow them to cross over from hip hop to alternative to rock and just about everything in between. “Fight With Tools” was released locally in October of 2007, but just last month was released nationwide to anxious fans everywhere. They have truly become one of Denver’s most celebrated bands, and they deserve it. Not only are they spreading the word of peace through their music, but they have created Flobots.Org, a site that advocates change and encourages people of all ages to join together and make their communities a better place through community service, teaching peace, and reaching out to those who need help.

The Flobots are currently on tour and if they come to your town you should check them out, you won’t be disappointed.
