The menu is extensive: A platter of prepared meats for $63.00, and by the looks of the platter that is a bargain- on down to Combination plates for $6.95, and a la carte items for even less. I am quite fond of the Chili Rellenos, while Alicia favors the Flautas. The Sopapilla is great, the Flan tremendous and the Fried Ice Cream divine!

One afternoon we were driving down Broadway and I had to ask Shawn Marie why there were people carrying skis, snowboards, and in one case a full on canoe, down the streets of Denver. She looked around, then said, “Oh yeah! It’s Sniagrab time!” That’s “bargains” spelled backwards, and it’s a huge sale on all things outdoors and sports related that all Denverites know. People take the day off of work, stand in line for hours, and get the best deals. It’s just once a year, so people make sure to get there!

So it came as no surprise to me that the Denver International Sportsmen’s Exposition was a huge thing here. Opening Thursday, January 24th, the Sportsmen’s Expo has been held here in Denver for 31 years. It’s all happening at the Colorado Convention Center, located at 700 14th Street, Denver, CO 80202.

It’s all about the great outdoors at this show. You’ll find information on hunting, fishing, fly-fishing, camping, boating, as well as RV and ATV exhibits. Also on hand will be owners of fishing resorts and hunting lodges from around the world and right here in Denver, ready to give you the inside scoop on taking a trip to their resort. Tons of equipment is on sale, often at show prices, and don’t miss out on all of the experts who will be there to give you tips and tricks for a better experience.

Tickets are available online or at the Convention Center box office. The Expo runs from January 24th through January 28th.

Not only does Denver have a professional football team, a professional baseball team, a professional hockey team, a professional lacrosse team, and a score of not-so-professional teams, but we also have a pro basketball team! I’m talking about the Denver Nuggets! Their home turf is the Pepsi Center, which is conveniently located to many hotels and transportation for the basketball fans from out of state.

The Nuggets suffered a loss over the weekend, losing to the Portland Trail Blazers. However, the team is having a great season so far, with 20 wins chalked up. The next home game is Thursday, December 20th, against the Houston Rockets. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or the box office at the Pepsi Center.When the guys aren’t on the court, you can find them giving back to the community at various events. A few of the players also have blogs, including Carmelo Anthony, and Marcus Camby, and the announcers for the team also have a blog, the Koz and Bravo U.S. tour, where they sight see in the city where the Nuggets are playing, if they have a full day off.

You can also meet your favorite player if he’s scheduled to appear through Conoco’s Player Appearances. During an Appearance, you can register to win an autographed jersey, spin a prize wheel, and… all grades of Conoco gas will be the same price during a player appearance!

On Saturday the 53rd Denver Bird Count took place- that’s right we counted up our birds for The National Audubon Society.

Disney’s Princess’ left town Sunday after their two week stint at The Denver Coliseum, hopefully many wishes were granted while they were here.

Office parties were in full swing over the weekend- therefore DUI enforcements were- well, in…force.

Sadly, The Broncos are officially out of the playoffs after the Houston Texans bested them 31 to 13 last Thursday.

The Colorado Avalanche- The Avs- made their annual trip to Children’s Hospital on Sunday to share some smiles and cheer.

Snow actually took a break this weekend and the ice is melting a little every day.

The Denver Nuggets lost to The San Antonio Spurs Saturday 91 to 102, and then lost again to The Portland Trailblazers 105 to 116 on Sunday

Since 2004, the Rocky Mountain Roller Girls have been kicking butt and taking names on the roller derby circuit. Made up of two home teams (The Red Ridin Hoods and the Sugar Kill Gang) and two traveling teams (5280 Fight Club and The Contenders) the Rocky Mountain Roller Girls are all girl skaters who completely own and operate their own league. They are members of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, and are very active in the community, often donating their time and energy to local charities and events.



Check them out on December 1st as they take on New York City’s Gotham City Girls! The Rocky Mountain Roller Girls are teaming up with the US Marine Corps and collecting toys for Toys for Tots, so bring a new, unwrapped gift when you come to see the killer roller derby action! Tickets are available online through Brown Paper Tickets, at Twist and Shout (2508 E. Colfax), or at the Bladium ticket office. The bout will be held at the Bladium Sports Club, located at 2400 Central Park Boulevard, Stapleton, Denver. Doors open at 6pm, bout starts at 6:30pm.

The Colorado Avalanche- or the Avs, as the locals call them – arrived in Denver in 1995, relocating from Quebec City. They have a strong fan following, and are currently celebrating their 500th regular season win since coming to Denver. The Avs are very involved in the community, helping collect toys for the Toys for Tots program in a partnership with the United States Marine Corps. People are invited to bring a new, unwrapped toy to the home game against the San Jose Sharks on December 3rd.

The Avalanche’s home turf is the Pepsi Center, located at 1000 Chopper Circle Denver, CO 80204. Situated near downtown Denver, it is within walking distance of several hotels and is also served by bus and the light rail.

Tickets to the Avalanche home games can be purchased at the Pepsi Center ticket office, or online through Ticketmaster.

You don’t have to be in Denver very long before you notice a lot of people walking around, dressed in orange and blue. It doesn’t even have to be Sunday (or Monday) for the fans of the Denver Broncos to wear the colors of their team.

The Broncos, in case you weren’t aware, are a professional football team, aligned in the AFC. Currently they are celebrating their latest win over the Tennessee Titans on Monday night. They have two more home games on the schedule, so get out there soon to pick up tickets before they’re gone!The Broncos home turf is Invesco Field at Mile High, located at 1701 Bryant Street, Denver, CO 80204. Built near the site of the old Mile High Stadium, Invesco Field is a marvel of technology and a blue print of home field advantage. Fans are seated close to the action, and large screens keep the action close for everyone from the first row to the very last row at the top.

Tours are available of the stadium for a fee. Reservations are recommended, as there are days when tours are not available.

Catch the Broncos as they take on the Chicago Bears in Chicago on Sunday, November 25th. Make sure to wear your blue and orange!
