At the corner of Colfax Avenue and Grant Street, across the street from the Capitol Building and catty corner from the Basilica- you will find Capitol Hill Books.
Perhaps one of the greatest treasures in all of Denver; a book store- the way you remembered Book Stores should be.
There are books displayed in the windows, in and around catchy themes, dioramas and designs. Weather permitting there is a bargain rack right outside on the sidewalk. I am a huge book lover, so when we moved to Denver I asked Shawn Marie where the best book stores in town was. She immediately told me about the Tattered Cover. The Tattered Cover is a landmark in Denver, and you’d be hard pressed to find a Denverite who doesn’t know about it. At least, a book loving Denverite.

It is cold Cold COLD outside- a perfect time for an indoor musical adventure. Stop on in to one of Denver’s premiere home grown music stores- Twist & Shout. The name itself warms your soul with the feel of nostalgia and a leaning toward the future. To say Twist & Shout is only a music store would be incorrect, they also offer a unique line of collectibles, bags, cards, and hip outer wear.

As a traveler, you may not be thinking of books- let alone libraries.
Yet, Denver Public Library is worth looking into. As a library system it is ranked in the top 5 of the nation, with an impressive amount of library card holders per capita. Not to mention the Downtown, or Central Library- as we call it, was designed by renowned architect Peter Graves.
