Poetry in Motion

April is National Poetry Month and Denver has a lot of happenings to honor this occasion- from onomatopoeia to beat to slam to iambic pentameter to haiku to the longest multi lingual poem and counting- all month long!

April 17th- Poem in your pocket day: carry a poem in your pocket all day.

April 21st – Poet Richard Tayson at the Tivoli Student Union.

April 23rd- Mix, Blend and Liquefy at Wild Sage Community Center in Boulder.

April 25th- Arapahoe Community College’s Writer’s Studio 2nd Annual Literary Festival.

Recurring Monthly Events (free unless noted):

Sundays 8pm- Mercury Café Slams $5

Tuesdays 7:30pm- Pretty Boys School of Public Speaking at Common Grounds Coffee House - 17th and Wazee.

2nd and 4th Thursdays 8pm, SlamNuba at Blackberries $5, $2 for Slammers 25th and Welton.

Thursdays 9pm, The Kasbah $5, 21 and up, 6th and Chambers in Aurora.

Fridays 10pm, The Mercury café Open Mic Night.

1st and 3rd Fridays 7pm, The Speakout $5, The Boneyard BBQ Lounge

Last Fridays 8pm, Café Nuba, It’s Hot + it’s Black $10, 18 and up with id, Historic Roxy Theatre, 2549 Welton St.
