No TVs, Just Classical Music
One of the first places Shawn Marie took me when we arrived in Denver was My Brother’s Bar. From the street it looks small and hole-in-the-wallish, I mean, it doesn’t even have a sign out front telling you what it is! Once inside, however, you feel cozy and welcome, like they have been waiting all day for you to wander in.
There aren’t any televisions to distract you, no loud bartenders announcing the gimmick of the hour, no waitresses in funky colored clothing. There’s classical music playing, the menus are written on large boards tacked to the walls, and everyone you meet has a smile for you.Located at 2376 15th St, Denver, CO 80202, My Brother’s Bar is a Denver staple. It is Denver’s oldest bar, opening originally in 1873. Neal Cassady frequented the bar when it was called “Paul’s Place”, and a photo of him and Jack Kerouac hangs proudly on the wall.
Packed to the gills on a Friday night, you can find sports fans sitting next to theater patrons who are cozied up to families looking for a great burger. And let me tell you, the food is awesome. Burgers are served with a condiment tray, which packs everything from sliced pickles to onions so you can make your burger just how you like it. The onion rings are delicious! My favorite is the Ticky Turkey sandwich. There’s vegetarian fare as well, and Shawn Marie can attest to the delicious offerings therein. The best cheeseburger in Denver, say the locals, and I have to agree! They also have a great selection of brews on tap.
Open Monday through Saturday, 11 Am to 2 AM, My Brother’s Bar is your best bet for good, cheap eats in an awesome place where you can actually hear your conversation. They offer indoor seating and an outside, tree covered patio. Groups are welcome, and they are kid friendly, so bring the whole family! Parking is available in their private lot for free, and there is also plenty of metered parking along the street.

I must agree that the food here is very good and very reasonable. I myself attended a party there and for over 10 people including drinks, I did not walk out feeling the my wallet had been pinched!
And I myself had the ticky turkey and all I can say is YUMMO!!!
