The Denver Pioneers Gymnastic Team ended their 2008 season this past Thursday by placing 12th in the nation. This was their second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships. The Pioneers scored a 194.200 finishing them 6th in the first half and 12th overall. The gymnasts competed in Olympic order- starting on Vault followed by The Uneven Bars, moving to the Balance Beam and ending their rotation with Floor Exercise.

Courtney Butler, a senior, tied for tenth place on the vault with a score of 9.85 giving her the best individual finish.

“Our student-athletes gained valuable experience from this competition and in this atmosphere,” head coach Melissa Kutcher-Rinehart said. “I think it’s a good stepping stone for our program and I think our future is bright. We will definitely miss our four graduating seniors, they have done a great job of getting us into this position. Going forward, we need to learn to capitalize on these opportunities.”

Congratulations Pioneers! You have made Denver Proud!
