Alicia and I first talked about The Denver Mint back in December, but it is worth mentioning again and is most certainly a Must See when visiting the Mile High City.
There are six United States Mint facilities across this country, each of them devoted to a certain division of minting all of that glorious money. Physical tours are available in only two cities and Denver is one of them!

I still remember the first time Shawn Marie and I drove down Broadway and I saw Flossy McGrew’s. As we neared the place I saw the sun glinting off of what looked like a skeleton in a coffin, adorned with chains and other grinning skulls. Do your travel plans include a layover at Denver International Airport? While it would be ideal to just hop a bus and come into town to enjoy what Denver has to offer, unless your layover is at the very least four hours, you will probably want to stay at the airport.
This isn’t such a bad thing- Denver International Airport has a lot to offer.

At the corner of Colfax Avenue and Grant Street, across the street from the Capitol Building and catty corner from the Basilica- you will find Capitol Hill Books.
Perhaps one of the greatest treasures in all of Denver; a book store- the way you remembered Book Stores should be.

I am a huge book lover, so when we moved to Denver I asked Shawn Marie where the best book stores in town was. She immediately told me about the Tattered Cover. The Tattered Cover is a landmark in Denver, and you’d be hard pressed to find a Denverite who doesn’t know about it. At least, a book loving Denverite.
