Here’s my list of a dozen enjoyable, relaxing, and fun things to do in the Mile High City: 
 

Visit the Denver Art Museum (south end of the Civic Center on 14th Avenue Parkway).  Its facade of glass tiles makes the building itself a work of art (in photo above).
Visit Colorado’s State Capitol building (between East 14th and East Colfax).  Go up the steps at the west entrance, and stand on the 13th step.  You’ll be one mile above sea level – …read more

About ten minutes east of downtown Denver are 23 acres of gardens and plants that will make you feel like your much further away from the concrete of the city.  The Denver Botanic Gardens (1005 York Street, Denver) contain 45 gardens and over 32,000 plants.  (I discovered the York Street gardens while on a shopping expedition; they are very near the Cherry Creek Mall.)

Want a place that makes you feel at home? Need a spot where they’d scream your name in greeting if they knew it? Tired of going out late to find no grill open?

Right on the edge of town, where Speer Blvd crosses Colfax Avenue is a diner befittingly named, The Denver Diner. It sits across the street from the downtown Fire Station and above Cherry Creek which runs just below street level along Speer Blvd. A good sized neon sign alerts you to its presence and the four sided wall to wall windows allow you to see the heartbeat of action inside.

I love Indian food. No really, I do, and since we moved to Denver I have been missing my favorite place in Las Vegas. So imagine my joy to find that Shawn Marie knew of two excellent places right here in the Mile High that would more than ease my longing for Las Vegas.

On my first trip to Denver, Shawn Marie said that we absolutely had to go to this restaurant. She mentioned it to her Dad, who laughed a little and said that oh yes, I had to experience it before we went back to Las Vegas. A friend of Shawn Marie’s said she would take us, because I just had to go.

It is cold Cold COLD outside- a perfect time for an indoor musical adventure. Stop on in to one of Denver’s premiere home grown music stores- Twist & Shout. The name itself warms your soul with the feel of nostalgia and a leaning toward the future.
