And the winner is…
It was a clean sweep of the People’s Choice and the Judges Grand Prize when both awards went to Stephanie Ohnmacht at the first annual Frock Out Denver!
A Fashion Show in a Library may sound wacky- but it was a night to go down in history and hopefully an event to thrive in the future. The Gala was sold out- even turning some away at the door. Frock Out Denver will do something that seems impossible… Bring a slice of the Fashion World, ala Bryant Park, to the Denver Public Library. Over the past three months, twelve of Denver’s most talented Fashion Designers have been working on their collections to compete in Frock Out’s runway competition. At last- all of the residents of Denver who religiously follow Project Runway have a chance to step inside a fashion tent and allow their eyes to be dazzled. The Denver Public Library presents the Western History and Genealogy Digital Image Collection.
Developed by the Western History and Genealogy Department of the Denver Public Library system, the collection is an extensive amount of photographs depicting the history of Denver, including surrounding Colorado areas and much of the American West in general. More than 100,000 photographs have been digitized to allow them to be viewed online, which increases public access to the photos while preserving them by eliminating the need for the photos to be handled. As a traveler, you may not be thinking of books- let alone libraries.
Yet, Denver Public Library is worth looking into. As a library system it is ranked in the top 5 of the nation, with an impressive amount of library card holders per capita. Not to mention the Downtown, or Central Library- as we call it, was designed by renowned architect Peter Graves. It is a member of the CLC, which means every card holder has access to practically every library throughout the entire state of Colorado.
