Alicia and I first talked about The Denver Mint back in December, but it is worth mentioning again and is most certainly a Must See when visiting the Mile High City.
There are six United States Mint facilities across this country, each of them devoted to a certain division of minting all of that glorious money. Physical tours are available in only two cities and Denver is one of them!

Built in 1913, the Bluebird has gone through many faces in its 95 years of operation after starting out as a movie house. It began its life as a music venue in 1994, and has been rocking Denver ever since. Not far from the Capitol Building rises the twin spires of the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. The Cathedral started out as a small church in 1860, named St. Mary’s Parish Church, and was the first Catholic church in Colorado. In 1868 the parish Father was appointed as Bishop of Colorado, and so the little parish church became the Cathedral.

Denver is a super bike friendly town, as you well know. What you may not know is that all of the public transportation actively encourages bike riders to take part, with racks on the front of RTD Buses and large doors on the Light Rail to accommodate bike riders of all kinds when the ride is just a little too long. Today, June 6th, marked the opening day for the 2008 Opera Season up in Central City! This years season is packed with some exciting shows and runs through the summer,  so anytime you have a trip planned, you can add a night at the Opera in the beautiful Mountains as well!
