The Denver Traveler

An Orchard of a Different Color

by Shawn Marie on May 28th, 2008

Many tourists find themselves coming to Denver for its many outside surrounding adventures. But what if your tastes lean to the shopping variety?

A new mall has opened on the outskirts of town that may satisfy both of these needs.

The Orchard Town Center in Westminster opened a few months ago across the northwest corner of 144th and I/25. It has an AMC Movie Theater, a Super Target, restaurants: Happy Sumo, Which Wich, MiMi’s café, Woodlands Grill, Rock Bottom Brewery, Red Robin and Mexico Cantina along with many specialty shops and stores such as: Aero Postale, Claire’s, Christopher and Banks, Colorado Bear Factory, GNC LiveWell, Kay Jeweler’s, Macy’s, Origins, R.E.I., Select Comfort, Tilly’s, Zales and Zumiez to name just a few.

It reads as any mall might appear, but what makes The Orchard special is that it is an Outside Mall, not a Strip Mall, not a maze enclosed inside fluorescent lights, but a mall where the shoppers park along its streets or in a big lot at the end and walk outside, in the glorious sunshine, from shop to shop.

The centers hours are:
Monday through Saturday 10am to 9pm
Sunday 11am to 6pm

It is easy to get there, direct yourself on to I-25 going North from Denver, or South from Erie and exit onto 144th Avenue. Bring some change for the metered parking if you want to get close to a certain store. If you are cool with a nice walk through and around the Mall- the parking at the end of the Mall is free.

Happy Sunshine Shopping!
