Monday’s Must Hear? – The Soundwalk!

Monday’s Must Hear? – The Soundwalk!

Sometimes the things that can bring the most surprise aren’t big and flashy. Sometimes, they aren’t even a place or a building or a memorial. Sometimes they aren’t even to be seen but rather heard. This is certainly the case for this weeks Must See…Soundwalk! On Curtis Street between 15th and 16th Streets is a gem of the Mile High City that few have witnessed with their eyes and ears open. Most people who walk down the street simply think they are hearing things and pay little attention to the innocuous grates that line this one block of Denver. Then …read more

Photo Op: The Cow Parade In Denver

The Cow Parade was in Denver the very first time I visited this awesome city. This particular cow was shot by Flickr user GISuser.
I saw a cow painted in Broncos colors, and another one in the park! After the cows were “rounded up”, they were all auctioned off for charity. I’m pretty lucky, because I also saw the Cow Parade when it came through Las Vegas, where I’m from.

All Aboard!

All Aboard!

Once upon a time the nation laid down the right of way inviting the world in-land and across uncharted territories. Trains carried produce, goods and people. The train stations of large cities and small one cow stops told stories about the towns. Travelers came through and mingled with folks hanging out and sharing dreams of their own.
Denver’s Union Station hearkens back to the days of old with a futuristic appeal. The tall wooden benches are surprisingly comfortable and cool. The vast tall ceiling leaves lots of room to imagine where you might want a train to take you. The old …read more

More Good Eats: The Denver Diner

More Good Eats: The Denver Diner

Right on the edge of town, where Speer Blvd crosses Colfax Avenue is a diner befittingly named, The Denver Diner. It sits across the street from the downtown Fire Station and above Cherry Creek which runs just below street level along Speer Blvd. A good sized neon sign alerts you to its presence and the four sided wall to wall windows allow you to see the heartbeat of action inside.
The Denver Diner is open 24 hours a day, this fact alone makes it quite a commodity in the Mile High City. There are old school vinyl booths and steel topped …read more

Denver Deals on the Dial

Denver Deals on the Dial

The car commuters of Denver have probably already heard of this great deal we are about to share with you but for those of you planning on coming to town- listen up and don’t change that dial.

A few of the radio stations in Denver are offering some fantastic on-line specials. That is right, the radio rises again to help save our pocket books. You may not think much of radio and internet crossing over unless you click onto a radio site to listen. However, it has happened in the form of what they call a Cyber Sidewalk Sale.
The Cyber Sidewalk …read more

Convention 101 – The Basics of the Democratic National Convention

We at The Denver Traveler, have posted information about how you might share your story at The Democratic National Convention. We have posted about the history and the bare essentials of The Democratic National Convention.
However, what exactly is The Democratic National Convention or DNC 2008? And how exactly does it work?
These are excellent questions and on the minds of many residents and visitors alike- though not many are asking out loud. This could because somewhere inside us we feel we should know what happens at a National Convention, we were taught that somewhere- right?
Well, in case this knowledge followed Algebra …read more

Tuesday’s Traveler’s Tip- A Proper Tilt, to Your Map!

Tuesday’s Traveler’s Tip- A Proper Tilt, to Your Map!

Our nation’s capitol, Washington D.C., was thorough in its city planning to provide no easy way out of or around town. The seeming chaotic, no rhyme or reason street plan of D.C. is exactly what the planners had in mind so that no one could attack or plunder any of our national treasures and get out of town easily.
When roaming around Denver, and navigating its Mile High Wonders, you may have noticed something similarly chaotic in its layout. Denver doesn’t quite have as lofty a reason as D.C. but we come upon the outcome honestly. Our City Planners simply did …read more
