I am a diabetic, so when I heard that The American Diabetes Association is having a Diabetes Expo in Denver on Saturday, March 1st, I knew I had to go!
There will be free screenings, demonstrations, books, exhibits and guest speakers on hand from 9 am to 4 pm. A special section will be dedicated to Latinos and will be in Spanish. Today marks the 162nd birthday of none other than William “Buffalo Bill” Cody. Creator of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show and a wild west legend, Buffalo Bill lived a life of danger and excitement. PBS recently featured him on their American Experience series, airing Monday nights.
What most people may not know is that Buffalo Bill’s final resting place is right here in Colorado, just a few miles outside of Denver, in Golden.

I’m a big nature lover. When we moved to Denver I was fascinated by the abundance of wildlife all around us. Squirrels, foxes, and all kinds of birds. And when I say that, I mean that there are a LOT of birds here in Denver.
Mainly though, there are geese. Tons and tons of geese. They are everywhere, from parks to school yards to grassy shoulders of the highway. The Denver Detour, a neighborhood and women loving women friendly bar on east Colfax is picking up its roots and moving to the other side of town. Apparently the building that houses The Detour is being demolished and cleared away to allow for a residential high rise to, well, rise up in its place. Even though The Detour has a new home (The Den on West Colfax near Sheridan) to go to, it will be sad to see the coziness of its first and current home go away.
