Titanic Sails Again at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science

Titanic

The past comes alive at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science!

Right now the main attraction at the museum is the Titanic Artifact Exhibition, a collection of items, photographs and information about the famous Titanic voyage. Visitors are given a boarding pass which gives them details of an actual passenger on the Titanic, and at the end of the tour you find out whether your passenger survived the voyage. Wandering through the exhibition are costumed actors to interact with, happy to talk about their cabins or gossip about other passengers. All of the items shown were recovered from the wreckage site, and include personal effects as well as actual pieces of the boat.Tickets to the tour are available at the museum box office, or through the website. Please note that tickets are sold on a timed basis, as each tour starts at a specific time to avoid over crowding. The purchase price includes admission to the rest of the three story museum, so feel free to make a day of it!

In addition to the tour, there is also a movie about the Titanic salvage operation called Ghosts of the Abyss. The movie is playing in the IMAX Theater, which is located on site. Tickets are available at the Museum Box Office or through the website.

The Museum is open from 9 am to 5 pm, seven days a week, with the exception of December 25th. It is located at 2001 Colorado Boulevard, Denver, Colorado 80205. Reservations are recommended for large groups wanting to attend the Titanic exhibition.

I saw a similar exhibit in Newport News, VA a few years back and it was exceptionally interesting.

Since I lived in Halifax for a few years, I got to see some of the graves from those who perished during this disaster, very moving.
