Civic Center Park – Not Just a Wonderful Place to Have Lunch

Statue

Want an overview of Denver that is lush with history , oozing with scenery and costs absolutely nothing? Why not take a walk through Civic center Park!

Situated right on the southern edge of Downtown, Civic Center Park offers a wealthy full circle view of how Denver came to be and how it operates today. Walk to the middle of the park and twirl in a circle with your arms spread wide…

Congratulations, you’ve taken in over a hundred years worth of history! Stand facing east to spy the Capitol and The Colorado Historical Society & History Museum. Turn to face south and you’ll see the Library and The Denver Art Museum through the amphitheatre. Twist to the west and you’ll see the City and County Building. Finish the rotation and face north, look across the fountain and through the columned entrance to view the new courthouses and the expanse of Downtown Denver.

Stroll through all four quarters of the park and pause to take in the sculptures. Is that bronze Native American watching that Cowboy atop a Bronco? Deliver an address from the Amphitheatre, pretend to splash through the fountain that has been turned off for the winter months. Pack a thermos of soup or take a brisk walk through Civic Center Park- the epicenter of Denver, home of many festivals including The People’s Fair, Taste of Colorado, Pride and so much more.
